The Biology and Treatment of Growth Hormone Deficiency in Children

Target Audience: Case managers involved in the treatment of children with growth hormone deficiency.

Goal: To provide an overview of the treatment of growth hormone deficiency in children.

Objectives:

  • Discuss the structure, regulation and physiologic actions of growth hormone (GH).
  • List causes of GH deficiency in children.
  • Discuss methods of assessing growth in the evaluation of suspected GH deficiency in children.
  • Describe the diagnosis of GH deficiency in children.
  • Discuss GH treatment and list potential safety concerns and adverse reactions.

CE Credit for successful completion of this independent study offering will be provided to certified case managers.
