Asthma
is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting approximately
15 million Americans. Prescription products are the principle
treatment for asthma, and most treatment occurs in the ambulatory
care setting. Advance practice nurses are uniquely positioned
to impact the education of patients on the proper utilization
of asthma medications and appropriate use of asthma devices.
The
goal of this program is to provide the advance practice nurse
with an update on recent advances in asthma monitoring and
treatment, and asthma-specific drug delivery and monitoring
devices. Participants will gain information and tools they
can use in practice to provide drug information to other health
care professionals and patients, monitor and improve patient
adherence, and effectively counsel patients receiving these
agents.
