TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is designed for managed healthcare professionals with an interest in optimizing members' outcomes in metabolic syndrome, understanding the impact of cardiometabolic risk factors, and determining the role of new technologies and pharmacotherapeutic agents.

ACTIVITY OVERVIEW
This activity provides participants with an update on the metabolic syndrome, the impact of cardiometabolic risk factors, the implications of early treatment, and the clinical and financial impact of pharmacologic intervention. This activity will ensure that managed care professionals are informed about new and investigational pharmacotherapeutic agents and technologies in the diabetes and cardiometabolic armamentarium and their impact on the healthcare landscape.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After completing this activity, participants will be better able to do the following:

  • Evaluate current guidelines for diagnosis and identification of the metabolic syndrome.
  • Identify appropriate pharmacologic interventions in patients with cardiometabolic risk factors, including pre-diabetes and obesity.
  • Examine the relationship between insulin resistance and obesity, and its role in advancing cardiometabolic risk.

ACCREDITATION AND CREDIT DESIGNATION

The Bimark Center for Medical Education (BCME) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education (No. 799).

This activity is approved for 1.5 hours (0.15 CEUs) of continuing education credit in states that recognize ACPE-accredited providers. The ACPE Universal Program Number for this activity is 799-000-07-017-H01.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR OBTAINING CREDIT
To receive credit, participants must complete an online evaluation form and pass the online posttest with a score of at least 70%. If you do not achieve the minimum required score, you are permitted one retake. After passing the posttest, you can view, print, and track your statements of credit online. There is no fee to participate in this activity.
