Statement of Need
Pharmacists need to be advocates for the documentation of herbal products. Several drug interactions may be prevented by documentation of herbal medicinals. Understanding the documented and potential drug interactions between herbals and warfarin will equip pharmacists with the knowledge to provide advice for patients seeking alternative medicine. By counseling patients to notify their health care provider about current alternative medicine including herbals, serious drug interactions may be avoided.
