Dr. Alpesh Amin is Associate Professor of Medicine and Vice Chair for Clinical
Affairs in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine
School of Medicine. He is founder and Executive Director of the Hospitalist
Program at the UCI Medical Center in Orange, California, where he is also
Medical Director of the Anticoagulation Clinic.
Dr. Amin received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical
School in Chicago. He completed his internship and residency at UCI, where
he was Chief Resident in internal medicine. Dr. Amin also received an MBA
in health care from UCI. He is board certified in internal medicine.
Dr. Amin is considered a national thought leader in community-acquired pneumonia
and is an active proponent of the hospitalist movement. He has published on
hospital medicine, medical education, and on infectious diseases from the
perspective of the hospitalist. Dr. Amin is a Fellow of the American College
of Physicians and belongs to several professional societies, including the
American Medical Association and the Society of Hospital Medicine. He currently
serves as Chair of the Society of Hospital Medicine's Education Committee.
