Dr. Richard Quintiliani is Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He is also Senior Consultant in Antibiotic Research, Usage and Pharmacoeconomics at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, Connecticut.

Dr. Quintiliani attended Harvard College and then obtained his medical degree at Boston University. In both college and medical school, he received honorary scholastic awards and became president of the academic medical society at Boston University. He did his intern training at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri and residency training in internal medicine at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut and the New England Medical Center at Tufts University, in Boston. He also did residency training in infectious diseases at Yale Medical School, New Haven, Connecticut. He is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases.

In 1975, Dr. Quintiliani became Director of the Division of the Infectious Diseases and Allergy-Immunology Department at Hartford Hospital, a position that he held for 20 years. During that period, he was promoted to Professor of Medicine and Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and was elected a Fellow in the Infectious Disease Society of America, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Clinical Pharmacology, and the Surgical Infectious Disease Society of America. In 1995, he became the Director of Anti-Infective Research and Pharmacoeconomic Studies in the Research Department at Hartford Hospital and, in 2001, became a Senior Consultant in Antibiotic Research, Usage and Pharmacoeconomics.

Dr. Quintiliani has published over 450 scientific articles and has given numerous scientific presentations worldwide. He has written chapters in standard textbooks of medicine, pharmacology, surgery, and infectious diseases, and has been the editor of several medical journals. Dr. Quintiliani is considered a national and international authority on the usage, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacoeconomics of antibiotics.
