Statement of Need
Despite increased patient acceptance of contraceptive methods, misinformation
continues to be a key factor for nonadherence. New methods of contraception
will increase the options available to patients in order to select a method
that best fits the patient's lifestyle and health profile. When concerns arise,
the healthcare professional can often improve patient compliance through effective
counseling methods and professional recommendations.

Information
Adam J. Duhl, MD, is the Director of Medical Education and Associate Residency
Program Director in the Department of OB/GYN at the Allegheny General Hospital
in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Adam Duhl is an Assistant Professor at the MCP/Hahnemann School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, and completed an Internship and Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Subsequently, he performed a three-year fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, where he became actively involved in ethics education in OB/GYN throughout the continental United States. As well, in Baltimore, he actively participated in multiple clinical trials germane to contraceptive technology while developing interests in managing the perimenopausal contraceptive-hormonal transition and in ob/gyn ultrasound. Dr. Duhl is the Executive Director of Biomedical Ethics Retreats for OB/GYN residents in Baltimore, Washington, Indianapolis, Boston, Phoenix, Detroit, and Pittsburgh. Plans for expansion include anticipated retreats in eastern Ohio, Cincinnati, Louisville, Houston, Dallas, and Denver.
Dr. Duhl is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and the Johns Hopkins Howard Kelly Society. He is married to Jillian, an attorney, and has three year-old twins, Max Harrison and Paige Sydney. Outside interests include basketball, raquetball, swimming, travel, and documentary films.
