Target
Audience: This continuing education (CE) program
is intended for pharmacists, nurses, and dietitians who work
with or anticipate working with patients with diabetes requiring
insulin.
Goal:
To enhance the healthcare professional's knowledge
and understanding of the role of insulin, insulin analog, and
premixed insulin analog products in the treatment of diabetes.
Educational
Objectives: After reading this monograph, the participant
should be able to:

the impact of diabetes
- Explain
the relationship between insulin and glucose in the body
- State
the different human insulin products, insulin analogs, and
premixed insulin analogs
- Describe
two different insulin regimens
- Describe
the practical aspects of mixing, storing, and injecting insulin
- Discuss
the prevention and treatment of hypoglycemia
